  • 1647 — Margaret May Alacoque is born in L’Hautecour, France (Burgundy area) She has mystical experiences at ages 9 & 17
  • 1671 — At age 24, she enters the Visitation Order of Nuns @ Paray-le-Monial, France
  • 1672 — She makes her First Vows
  • 1673-1675 — Visions of the Sacred Hear & revelation of the First Friday devotions. Assisted by Jesuit priest St. Claude de la Colombiere & Jesuit Order in spreading Sacred Heart/First Friday devotions
  • 1683 — Becomes Novice Mistress
  • 1690 — Dies, body later discovered to be incorrupt
  • 1856 — Pope Pius IX establishes Feast of the Sacred Heart
  • 1899 — Pope Leo XIII consecrates world to the Sacred Heart. This prayer still used today in Sacred Heart devotions
  • 1920 — St. Margaret Mary canonized a saint by Pope Benedict XV
  • 1928 — Sacred Heart Feast made a Solemnity by Pope Pius XI
  • 1956 — Pius XII writes Encyclical on Sacred Heart Devotion
  • 2002 — Pope John Paule II declares Sacred Heart Solemnity annual day of prayer for the sanctification of priests
